I have over 55 years of experience of the subject which started after the 1962/63 winter when my brother who was a sheep farmer lost over 70 sheep in the deep snow drifts - later my parents realised my passion for the weather and bought me “the observer guide to the weather”( which I still have) since then (55 yrs ago) I have read and educated myself on the subject, I like to think I have as much sometimes more knowledge as so called professional forecasters but we are all always learning more and of course we all know that the weather is not an exact science. In 2014 we had a very period when very cold came out of Siberia and Russia I was talking to other weather forecasts and just for fun had a 850 weather chart and an arrow indicating where the source of the air was coming from it really did look like a beast, so I superimposed a brown bear with its teeth showing I then #justforfun called it the Beast from the East [Note The Beast from the east is an old saying but Metjeffuk was the first to use and name this in relation to the bitter cold air from the East] this was pick up by the media and used again in February 2018 the rest is history so please when referring to the BFE give Metjeffuk some credit.
